Hello Families!!
Ms. Knick, our SCSU student teacher, was our full-time leader this week.
Here are some things we have been working on in school:
- We enjoyed a special presentation from the Minnesota Zoomobile on Monday. We saw a hawk, millipede, opossum, armadillo, and bull snake. We learned how each of these animals have a purpose in nature.
- In our reading classes, we read myths and fantasy stories to build word recognition (accuracy), fluency, and comprehension.
- Our math work has had second graders finish the unit on subtracting 2-digit numbers and has started to study place value. First graders are working on telling time and counting coins.
- Our writing workshop focus has been on writing poems that included specific types of words like nouns, verbs, and adjectives.
- We have studied science in a unit about plants with Mrs. Lembeck.
- We are reading stories about living long-ago as a part of our history study that will include our field trip to Kelley Farm.
- Our Primary Morning Meeting celebrated baseball today.
- Our field trip to Kelley Farm is Monday, May 1st. Students need WARM outer clothing to match the weather forecast for Monday. Please don't forget to dress appropriately for walking and being outside. Also, send those lunches if you indicated this would be provided from home.
- Our School Cinco de Mayo celebration is on Friday, May 5th. Come join the fun!! It is 5:30-7:30. Food is available for purchase.
- We were asked to provide store-bought treats to use at the Cake Walk during the celebration. Please send in a package of cookies, donuts, snack cakes, etc.
- Snack cupboards are running low....if we want to continue a morning snack through May, we will need more donations here too. Thanks to families who donate!!
- PAK-RAT books are coming home Monday-Friday. Is your family reading enough to qualify for awards and your child's participation in the end-of-the-year PAK-RAT celebration and parade??
- Library on Friday. Please make sure all books get returned. Every week we have several students who cannot check out new books.
- NEXT OBJECT SHARING WILL BE ON : May 5th
